So that was a big day. Got out on the water and popped the kite. boat feels good. By the start the breeze had picked up to a solid 22 to 25 knots and there were more boats upside down that the right way up. Got off the line first in the devil and headed for the top mark. So many boats weren't on the line that we managed to get up around the top mark in first position. at the mark we were on the bare away when we heard a mighty big crack, rounded the boat up and tipped over. Nothing broken but feeling like there was too much on than the boat could take, we headed for the shore.

As we did, numerous other boats from all classes headed for the shore. Once we got back on land the final boats came back in and the race had been abandoned. 32 knots on the committee boat. Damage included a broken transom bar, that ended Tim and Stuart Grants Day on the water, a broken boom and bent mast on a radial laser along with numerous torn sails including Darren Eggins' new 'rag' Jib.

Later in the afternoon the racing got under way. As suspected the dark horse, Local combination of Cole Dabner and Rob Moreton sailing 'The cunning Plan" put on a great show and were off the line early with Adrian Beswick and Jono Le Bis sailing Strait4devils following close behind. At the top Mark the cunning plan had got a couple of boat lengths lead on Strait4devils. By the bottom mark the Strait4devils was right on their tail with Steve Miller and Justin Stephens Sailing "Phantom" close behind. At the top mark Strait4devils gybed away early and headed for the finish line in pressure. This put them closest to the finish with only 500 metres to go. "The Cunning Plan" had gybed later but were looking to be able to get through the finish line without gybing again. In a last ditched effort to get infront and aviod the bottom mark "Strait4devils" managed to capsize within 20 metres of the Finish Line.

Race 2:

Looking at a strengthening breeze at about 20 to 25 Knots the fleet had shrunk by two. with 6 still lining up for  a start the race should be much closer than the first. Word has it that the Strait4devils combination of Beswick and Le Bis was feeling rather exhausted after only finishing one race due to a lack pre race form. At the start most of the boats managed to get on the line for a rather interesting start. The Cunning Plan got off the line with speed with Strait4devils pottering along close by and Phantom on their hip. By the top mark The Cunning Plan had managed to pull away by about 200 metres with Phantom rounding in 2nd, Ross Daley and John Genders sailing Early Warning in 3rd position and Strait4devils slipping back into fourth. Again on the second lap the fleet split going both left and right, Strait4devils again lost out going left and let the top three slip away going up to the top mark for the last time. Contemplating if they should fly the devil or not Beswick and Le Bis went for all or nothing. Once they got the kite up they realised that it was not all in vain. Early warning were headed for the finishline in first position with The Cunning Plan on its ear and Phantom too soft to hoist their spinnaker. Strait4devils managed to capitalise on the others mistakes and snuck through for a gallant second place. Phantom managed to sneak through for a soft third place.
